Web Based Payroll Systems

Currently companies that deal with issuing paychecks have numerous options in how they actually figure their payroll.  Many companies use a computer program designed to calculate and print all payroll related items.  But as more and more small companies are formed, many people are turning to web based payroll systems in order to save time and money.  A web based payroll systems eliminates the need for an IT department to trouble shoot program problems on your server, and web based payroll systems are as secure as any other.

Preparing payroll is a time consuming process and web based payroll systems make it easier for companies to get it done in record time.  With the ever changing tax and insurance variables companies must deal with, they can be assured that they are using the most up to date information when a web based payroll system is involved.  Plus, all an employee needs for a web based payroll system is a broadband internet connection and web browser.

There are two web based payroll systems currently available that will allow a company no matter how big or small to process their payroll, print checks and stubs, direct deposit pay straight to the employee’s bank account and print off year end reports.  One of them is by Intuit, the company produces the popular QuickBooks software, and PayCycle Payroll Plus.  Both of these web based payroll systems maintain current tax tables, helps you file tax forms and processes payroll.

Intuit’s web based payroll product costs companies $30 a month to use.  It was designed for small businesses that have not invested in something such as QuickBooks and it’s very easy to set up.  Payroll administrators would simply fill out a questionnaire, tour the site to learn how to use it and then begin.  This web based payroll solution only offers tax forms for nineteen different states so you may have to fill out the paperwork manually at the end of the year if the web based payroll program does not update to include the state you need.  The other drawback of the program is that it does not integrate with any other small business accounting software, requiring manual entry.  If you only want it for payroll and the drawbacks are negligible, then this is a good web based payroll program to use.

PayCycle Payroll Plus is a slightly more expensive web based payroll product, charging users $43 per month for five or less employees.  It does all of the same things as the Intuit web base payroll program, but this one will integrate with MS Money, Peachtree, QuickBooks, Quicken, and Netbooks.  It will allow you to export data from the web based payroll system straight into your established one.  This feature saves you time and money, and helps maintain the accuracy for your records.  It also features tax forms for all fifty states and you can even use this web based payroll system to file and pay electronically in states that are set up for it.
